Our Bryn Mawr Family Member Support Group meets on Monday at 7:00 p.m. in Bryn Mawr. If you have a family member or loved one with mental illness and are interested in this support group, please contact Susie Vernick at 610-649-5206 for more information.

Our Parent Peer Support Group meets on Wednesdays from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. for parents with a middle or high school child who is challenged with mental health symptoms. The peer support group is designed to be a safe, confidential place to share your experiences and learn from others. The group is facilitated by Nancy Dever and Debbie Gillespie and will be held at Wayne Presbytarian Church, Room 207, 125 E. Lancaster Ave, Wayne. Feature of the Week: Open Enrollment for 2018 Health Insurance is Open Now

November 1, 2017 was the first day to enroll, re-enroll, or change a 2018 insurance plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace.

*Important Notice:  The 2018 open enrollment period is shorter than in previous years, so it’s important to act quickly. The last day to enroll in or change a plan for 2018 coverage is December 15, 2017. Coverage will begin January 1, 2018. Those who do not purchase a plan may be subject to a penalty, as well as being uninsured for the year.

To preview plans and enroll, visit HealthCare.gov or call 1-800-318-2596/ 1-855-889-4325 (TTY) for more information.

For free assistance with applications or related questions, call a Health Insurance Marketplace Navigator at 1-855-274-5626. Or email the Navigator for Eastern Pennsylvania at easternPAnav@theadvocacyalliance.org. These services are free and language interpreters are available.  You can find additional help at https://localhelp.healthcare.gov.

The Pennsylvania Insurance Department has also provided a plan comparison tool called Consumers’ Checkbook. The site will display plans for 2018 and allow shoppers to compare on- and off-exchange plans by various factors, including monthly premium and estimated yearly cost.

Upcoming Events

Yes We Can Family Event for Children with Autism and Their Families, including a Special Needs Planning Workshop is thisSunday, November 5, from 2-6 p.m. at Spectrum of Solutions Therapy Services, Parkwood Therapeutic Riding Center in Newtown, PA.  Families can participate in a fun filled afternoon at Parkwood Therapeutic Riding Center in Newtown, PA. The children will be involved in supervised recreational activities, while parents attend a Special Needs Planning presentation by Lori M. Leathers from 1847 FINANCIAL.  This will be followed by a painting class led by Nina from ART IN THE POD just for parents and caregivers. Promote Hope: Where Addiction Meets Suicide is nextThursday, November 9, from 8:15 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Springfield Country Club, 400 W. Sproul Road in Springfield. Delaware County Suicide Prevention and Awareness Task Force will present their 14th annual symposium on suicide prevention.
