The Havertown NAMI Family Support Group is a free, confidential and safe group of families helping other families who live with mental health challenges. In this support group, families join a caring group of individuals helping one another by utilizing their collective lived experiences and learned wisdom. Family members can achieve a renewed sense of hope for their loved one living with mental health challenges.  The group meets this Tuesday May 16, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Llanerch (211 Lansdowne Rd. in Havertown, PA 19083).  For more information, please contact Nora at nora@huntjohnson.org.

We will host our third annual local awareness-raising, fund-raising walk, Main Line NAMI on the Move – Stepping out for Mental Health Awareness 2017 on Saturday morning, May 20 rain or shine. We hope you will join us for this family-friendly outreach and fund-raising walk. Registration is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. at Bryn Mawr Community Center Park (9 S. Bryn Mawr Ave., Bryn Mawr, PA 19010), which is next to Ludington Library. The walk will be a 5K loop on Lancaster Avenue, beginning at 10:00 a.m., with a 1K option if you prefer. To register or to donate to the walk, go to http://namipamainline.dojiggy.com.

NAMI PA, Main Line is excited to partner with the Haverford YMCA for a Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) course on Wednesday June 7 and Thursday June 8 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. YMHFA is a free 8-hour training designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and others how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. High school juniors and seniors are encouraged to take this training, but you will need a signed parental permission slip. To register for this course, please email your full name, birthdate, email address, and phone number to Melanie Greaves at mgreaves@philaymca.org. Melanie will send you additional information about registration and parking. Registration is required for this free event as space is limited. Participants must attend both days to  be eligible for certification. This event will be held in the Nolan Painting conference room, 181 W Hillcrest Ave, Havertown, PA 19o83. Feature of the Week: Coping with Family Conflicts

NAMI Montgomery County presents a showing of Hollywood Beauty Salon on Wednesday May 31, 7-9.00 p.m. Hollywood Beauty Salon portrays life at an intimate beauty parlor inside of the NHS Germantown Recovery Community, a non-profit mental health program in Philadelphia, where staff and clients alike are in the process of recovery. By gathering together to get their hair done, share stories, and support one another, they find a way to rebuild their lives. The showing will be held at Montgomery County Community College in the Science Center, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422. Admission is free, call to reserve your seat:
