Main Line NAMI Weekly Update
The Havertown NAMI Family Support Group is a free, confidential and safe group of families helping other families who live with mental health challenges. In this support group, families join a caring group of individuals helping one another by utilizing their collective lived experiences and learned wisdom. Family members can achieve a renewed sense of hope for their loved one living with mental health challenges. The group meets on Tuesday, April 18, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Llanerch (211 Lansdowne Rd. in Havertown, PA 19083). NAMI PA, Main Line presents: Severe Mental Illness and Recovery – First-Person Accounts by Individuals who are in Recovery and Family Members. This event will take place on Sunday, April 23, 2-4 p.m. at Ardmore Presbyterian Church, 5 West Montgomery Avenue in Ardmore. The speakers will describe their lived experience with mental illness and recovery and answer your questions. Panel members in recovery live with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Feature of the Week: Pennsylvania System of Care
The Pennsylvania Treasury Department is offering 2 webinars in April to help learn about the important features and benefits of PA Able. A PA ABLE Savings Program account gives individuals with qualified disabilities (Eligible Individuals), and their families and friends, a tax-free way to save for a wide range of disability-related expenses, while maintaining government benefits. The state and federal tax-free investment options are offered to encourage Eligible Individuals and their families to save private funds to support health, independence, and quality of life.Some of the topics that we will discuss include: eligibility requirements for opening a PA ABLE account, the federal and state tax benefits of PA ABLE, and how PA ABLE account interacts with current benefits.
